Witzand Bouwmaterialen B.V. strengthens its position in the Eastern and Central Netherlands with Van de Pol Hout en Bouwmaterialen B.V.

Witzand Bouwmaterialen B.V. has reached an agreement with the shareholders of Van de Pol Hout en Bouwmaterialen B.V. regarding the acquisition of all operations of Van de Pol Hout en Bouwmaterialen B.V. The merger will create a leading, independent building materials distributor with nine locations and 280 employees in total.

Both companies have a long history, their own distinct identities, and a similar culture centered on craftsmanship, personal contact, and strong local ties. Witzand Bouwmaterialen B.V. has been operating out of Almelo since 1894 and has seven locations in the eastern Netherlands. Van de Pol was founded in 1961 in Kootwijkerbroek and, from its two locations in Kootwijkerbroek and Amersfoort, serves the professional construction and residential markets in the central Netherlands.

Strategic Background

The merger brings together two complementary companies. Witzand is characterized by a strong position in wood and sheet materials, its own prefab division, and a broad range of building materials. Van de Pol brings a broad product range, the Bouw Inspiratiecentrum in Amersfoort, and the showroom for kitchens, tiles, and bathroom fixtures in Kootwijkerbroek.

By joining forces, both companies can serve their customers in the professional construction, renovation, and sustainability sectors even more effectively, respond more quickly to market developments, and jointly invest in the future, sustainability, and prefabricated solutions.

Continuity for Customers and Employees

The acquisition includes all locations and the entire workforce of Van de Pol Hout en Bouwmaterialen B.V. Existing customer relationships, delivery agreements, and terms and conditions will continue unchanged. Van de Pol will continue to operate as an independent brand under the leadership of the current management team.

Terms and Timeline

The completion of this transaction is subject to approval by the competition authorities in the Netherlands. The transaction is expected to be completed in the course of 2026. No financial details of the transaction will be disclosed.
